Late Afternoon Float

from $50.00

After visiting Japan a few years ago, Anj carried with her the quiet, intentional kindness that seemed to permeate even the smallest moments of daily life there: the courtesy of strangers, deep respect for the environment, and the sense that even routine moments deserved to be honored as meditative acts.

Late Afternoon Float reflects a memory of feeling deeply welcomed as a visitor in Japan. During a simple boat tour, the rower spent hours detouring from the route to share his favorite scenery, without hesitation or expectation of anything in return. Despite his tireless work, he took clear pride in guiding others through the natural world of his home, as though it were his duty to ensure they saw every beautiful corner.

Anj left the tour inspired to carry that same openness, kindness, and welcoming spirit into her own community, often in ways that go unseen but are deeply felt over time.

About the Artist

Anj is a Portland native whose work is inspired by the beauty of the Pacific Northwest and nature. She is also moved by community, culture, and the wonder of the unknown. Her work is primarily acrylic on canvas, though she is always exploring new media and pushing into unfamiliar styles.
