Flower Gate
After moving to a new neighborhood in January, Amy was eager to immerse herself in a fresh space and feel part of it. As spring arrived, the abundant flowers felt like an open doorway, welcoming her to explore the unique character of the neighborhood’s yards, parks, and the people who tend to them.
Flower Gate was inspired by the spring blooms Amy encountered during her daily errands, which helped her connect with her new surroundings. Flowers that caught her eye on her walks are scattered throughout the painting. The scene, pastel color palette, and soft-edged style embody the warmth and welcome she experienced, inviting her to engage more slowly and deeply with her new neighbors, both plant and human.
