Pretty Little Anna by Elaine Daggett Aye
Elaine Daggett Aye is an artist who intertwines a deep love for the environment with landscapes, nature, and bird paintings. Elaine’s work often evokes a sense of connection and belonging to a place, aiming to share a profound respect and passion for the natural world. Elaine is actively involved in community initiatives, having served on the board of the Lloyd EcoDistrict and contributed to programs addressing homelessness, food insecurity, and addiction. These issues resonate personally with Elaine, as several family members have navigated similar struggles.
For the "Small Joys" exhibition, Elaine created a collection of paintings directly inspired by the simple, purposeful elements that bring them immense happiness. As an avid gardener—a board member of the West Linn Garden Club and with a Certified Backyard Habitat—and an amateur birder, Elaine’s focus naturally turned to life thriving nearby. The artist’s inspiration stems from their backyard and Oregon nature hikes. The hummingbirds were painted with permission from Ron Brown Photography, while all other works were based on personal photographic references. Through this collection, Elaine hopes to share the same pure joy they experienced in both observing and painting these innocent wonders of nature. (@daggett_studios)
