For the "Small Joys" exhibition, Elaine created a collection of paintings directly inspired by the simple, purposeful elements that bring them immense happiness. As an avid gardener—a board member of the West Linn Garden Club and with a Certified Backyard Habitat—and an amateur birder, Elaine’s focus naturally turned to life thriving nearby. The artist’s inspiration stems from their backyard and Oregon nature hikes. The hummingbirds were painted with permission from Ron Brown Photography, while all other works were based on personal photographic references.
