Biophilic Revival by Ashley McDaniel
This piece was inspired by the simple joy of painting - colors of the flowers themselves, the colors in their mind, how they meet and interact. The happy harmony of the color scheme, and the layering of the brush strokes.
Ashley B. McDaniel (she/her) is an artist, architectural designer, and graduate of Portland State University's Master of Architecture program. A lifelong artist, she formally studied fine art during her undergraduate years at Pacific Northwest College of Art. Ashley is a first-generation college graduate with a 20-year background in the social sciences, cultivated both within and beyond academic settings.
Ashley has over a decade of teaching experience in the arts, working with students of all ages—including during her graduate studies—and continues to pursue her own creative practice. Her work bridges the worlds of art, sociology, and architecture, with the goal of creating thoughtful, impactful spaces.
Ashley has spent years in the architecture field, helping with the creation of affordable housing and public works buildings. She also held a research role exploring Permanent Supportive
Housing and actively contributed to various internal committees and initiatives. Ashley’s goal is to design architecture that makes a difference—spaces rooted in social impact, equity, and care. She looks forward to applying her interdisciplinary experience to the evolving field of architecture and the next chapter of her creative career. (@ashbmcdaniel)
